Fisichella optimistic after decent practice

Things look good for Giancarlo Fisichella in the second F1 race of the season. The Italian race driver made in to the ninth position in the second practise session on Friday. "We made a big improvement from the morning to the afternoon session," Fisichella said. "This morning there was a lot of understeer and then oversteer - it was really inconsistent but we made a big step forward and the balance was a lot better in the second session. "It was more consistent and comfortable." He felt he could have gone quicker still had he not encountered Toyota's Timo Glock while on his hot lap.

Team mate Adrian Sutil was less fortunate. He ended 18th in the second Friday practice session. "This morning we had a problem with the engine and then the second session in the afternoon was not so good," Sutil said. "Again we had problems with the new tyres - I don't know if it was the car or the pressures, but we just can't get a time out of the softer tyres. Increased budget for Force India F1 team

With the new owners Vijay Mallya en Michiel Mol the Force India F1 team gets access to bigger funds. The teams budget for the 2008 grand prix season increases from 70 million dollars to 120 million dollars. The Formula 1 stable doesn't have to skip tests anymore to save money, like it did last year. Next week Force India F1 will be one of the nine teams to test their car at Jerez. Fisichella will have to show the cars potential - just like Sutil - like he did during the off season winter tests, competing for a race seat.
